Safety inspections

We do safety inspection on the following: smoke alarms, safety switches, emergency lights, exit lights, installations, switchboards, equipment, appliances etc.

Smoke alarms save lives. By law, all homes and units in Queensland must be fitted with smoke alarms. From 1 January 2017, a new smoke alarm legislation specifies that all existing smoke alarms manufactured more than 10 years ago and faulty smoke alarms, must be replace with interconnected photoelectric type smoke alarms that comply with Australian Standard 3786-2014.

Photoelectric Smoke Alarms

Photoelectric smoke alarms are generally more effective than ionisation types because they ‘see’ the smoke by detecting visible particles of combustion. They are good at detecting smouldering fires and dense smoke and are not as prone to false alarms (from cooking etc.).

Ionisation Smoke Alarms

Ionisation smoke alarms are still in many homes but are discontinued and not compliant to the current Australian standard should be replaced with Photoelectric Smoke Alarms.
